Kjott21's 2006 STi

Postby Kjott21 » Sun Mar 01, 2009 1:49 pm

Back in September the bug to get an STi bit me so I started looking for one that I could afford. With some help from Vern I found one, and traded in my WRX for this car right here!

She had 83K miles on her and needed a little TLC from the dent wizard and the detailer. I had a couple bumps to overcome initially with belts and batteries, but once I got over that I have been loving this car. It is by far a much better choice than my WRX ever was.

The Mod List so far:
APS 65mm CAI
APS Twin Vent blow off valve
CSS top mount intercooler
Greddy Evo2 Catback
TurboXS downpipe and Catback Adapter
ZeroSports Intake Pipe
Rally Armor " Classic" Mudflaps
IxizConcepts IxizPstop
Group N Motor Mounts
Group N transmission Mounts
Group N Crossmember Bushings
TiC Unabomber's Sexy Rearend Kit
WC Lathe Werks Black Copolymer STi Sphere Shift Knob

Custom E-Tune by Matt @ 555Motorsports

Parts waiting to go on:
IxizAOSep
GrimmSpeed EBCS

That's it for now. Later!

Friday I finally got my IxizAOSep installed with Lil Shoaf's help. Couple of shots of the engine bay:

Well in the past few weeks I've added 850cc Deatschwerks Injectors and an LC-1. I am working with Matt to get my map straightened out now.

The STi went wingless yesterday. Here's a few quick pics to show the new look.

Dexterous helped me with a clutch install yesterday:

Look at all the friction material that was built up in there:

The new ACT XTSS clutch is very stout and is 100% better than the stock one.

I haven't been hanging out a whole lot on the car forums so I though I would update this now.

About 7K miles ago nagyhead helped me do the timing belt service for the car. It's really not too tough as long as you have someone that knows what they are doing.

This weekend we did another long install. This time it was the suspension that got upgraded. We swapped in all this stuff:

Group N Strut Top Mounts
TiC (NOT) Banging Rear End (Rear Tokico D-Spec struts/Adjustment Extenders/Strut Spacers)
Whiteline 24mm Front Sway Bar (BSF36XZ)
Whiteline 24mm Rear Sway Bar (BSR37XZ)
Kartboy Solid Front Endlinks
Kartboy Solid STi Rear Endlinks

It feels like a whole new car now. The car is so much smoother. I definitely recommend the TiC (NOT) Banging Rear End. No more clunk from the inverted STi struts.

Once I get a decent alignment I will get to really try out the new sways.

You don't need a stock rear sway for your car still do you?
